Lightning Strikes Milpitas High

With 11 minutes left on the clock before halftime, both football teams walked off the field, leaving spectators confused. At the same time, Mr. Kaldy was directing the marching band back to the theater. Soon, the announcement came: the game was being postponed for twenty minutes due to inclement weather.
Lightning struck near Milpitas High School on September 9, 2011 during the first home football game: Milpitas vs. Alvarez High School. For the marching band, it would have been the first formal performance of "Veni Vidi Vici." Instead, the band waited in the theater for further news. The rest of the game was eventually postponed, and band members went home early.
"I was disappointed that we didn't get to perform, because it was our first public performance," said Ngan-Ha Nghiem, Colorguard, "but at the same time, I'm glad, because I wanted to finish the first song [movement]."
Ramon Gabriel, Trombone, agrees. "I'm thankful we didn't perform, because we didn't know all of the first song. But we have a good show that is going in the right direction."
